CARL JUNG'S RED BOOK (LIBER NOVUS) @ THE RUBIN MUSEUM
This show at the Rubin was fantastic. The text in the back of the Red book (You can leaf through it below) is very interesting and thought provoking. I love the notion that he recognized that people(s) operate from mythologies then went went crazy and documented his ideas and visions to explore his own personal myths. It is inspiring to hear about people applying their theories to themselves and their own lives.
One of the most exciting things about this show is the notion that a person spent so much time and effort and gave such credence to his own visions, dreams and ideas as to spend countless hours making a tome and having it bound by the best bookbinders of the time. Then he kept it in his safe and didn't publish it. Here is a video with the curator of the show Shonu Shamdasani.
