ANNA MOLLER
These are some great images by Anna Moller, another Swedish/American photographer who is living between Sweden & New York City. They are taken in Värmland which is a middle-western province on the border with Norway. They are, in my opinion, very successful photographs of weather - a wonderful (if fickle) subject. I think that weather and the atmosphere of a region has a profound effect on the attitudes of people (I did grow up in Seattle after all) and what better way to encounter a fleeting Swedish 'character' than to photograph the area's weather?
They are from a project called "Long Way Home" which can be seen here in its entirety at her recent show at the Wild Project or for sale here to benefit the recovery from the recent Haitian earthquake.

An interesting side note is that Sweden has a customary law called Allemansrätt (lit. all men's rights) which permits anyone to walk all over the country without regard to property boundaries. This is a fascinating precedent and would be a boon to anyone photographing the countryside.
